SUMMERVILLE—Knights of Columbus Assembly 1900 presented essay awards for “What the American Flag Means to Me” at their banquet recently at St. John the Beloved Church. Penelope Wood, the first-place winner who received $100, read her essay at the ceremony. Kamdyn Mullis won second place and $75, and Kaitlin Ives won third place and $50. Each student also received a flag kit and achievement certificate. The awards were presented by Faithful Navigator Ronald Povero and Ted Musselman, essay chairman.
