Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As you know, a lawsuit has been filed against me alleging that I have committed a grievous act. The abuse of a child is despicable. This false accusation against me has no merit whatsoever; I have vigorously defended myself and will continue to do so.
As this case moves forward, I remain your Bishop. I will, however, temporarily reduce my public presence, as I do not want to distract the focus from the important ministries of the Church in South Carolina — including creating safe environments for our children.
I understand that these are challenging times for you, the faithful, and the coming days may be even more so. Please know that I am grateful for your prayers. St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us.

Muy queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo,
Como ustedes saben, una demanda ha sido puesta contra mí diciendo que yo he cometido un acto muy grave. El abuso de un menor de edad es despreciable. Esta falsa acusación en contra de mí, de ninguna manera tiene mérito; yo me he defendido vigorosamente y lo continuaré haciendo.
Mientras este caso procede, yo permanezco siendo su Obispo. Sin embargo, reduciré mi presencia pública porque no quiero distraer el enfoque de importantes ministerios de la Iglesia en Carolina del Sur – incluyendo la creación de un ambiente seguro para nuestros niños y niñas.
Yo entiendo que estos son tiempos de reto para ustedes los fieles, y los días venideros podrían ser más difíciles. Por favor sepan que estoy muy agradecido por sus oraciones. San Miguel Arcángel, ruega por nosotros.
