CHARLESTON—Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone applauded the announcement of SAFE Grants, a program that will make grants of up to $6,500 available to low- and middle-income South Carolina families for use at participating independent schools.
The announcement of the school funding opportunity — Safe Access to Flexible Education (SAFE) Grants — was made by Gov. Henry McMaster at a press conference on July 20.
In a statement following the event, Bishop Guglielmone praised the decision, noting that it will help ensure South Carolina students “can remain in the schools of their choice during these incredibly challenging times.”
“This program will provide families across our state the stability they deserve as they face economic hardship and an uncertain future due to COVID-19,” the bishop said. “We look forward to welcoming new students into our Catholic classrooms in the fall.”
People can register to receive updates on the program at the state’s education site, MySCeducation.org.
