Bishop Guglielmone makes new priest assignments

CHARLESTON—Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone made several new assignments for priests in the Diocese of Charleston:

Father Hugo Ruiz Marentes, who is returning from a leave of absence and service in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, was appointed parochial vicar to St. Mark Church in Newberry, Holy Spirit Mission in Laurens, and St. Boniface Mission in Joanna; effective immediately.

Effective Feb. 1, Father Jonathan Duncan was appointed parochial vicar of St. Mary Church, in addition to duties as chaplain to Bon Secours/St. Francis Hospital, St. Joseph’s Catholic School, and Furman University, all in Greenville.

Father Johnbosco Duraisamy, former chaplain for Providence Hospital in Columbia, was appointed pastor of St. Anthony in Florence.

Father Jacinto Vera Mejia, from the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Fla., was appointed priest-in-residence at St. Andrew Church in Myrtle Beach.
