COLUMBIA—Parishioners and community members generously participated in a drive-through food drop held outside St. Joseph Church and School on Devine Street on April 30 and May 1.

The food drive was held to collect supplies for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which operates an outreach at the parish. The society runs a food pantry for the needy and noted that they have been serving more people than ever before because of the coronavirus pandemic.

People responded to the increased need by donating about 1,500 pounds of canned goods, cereal, juice, pasta, and other foods, plus paper products and other supplies. They also dropped off monetary donations to help buy items to keep the pantry shelves stocked.
